Christmas Dilemma

We overspent for Christmas this year. One thing we needed was a new bed for Preston and we were planning on giving it to him for Christmas. After buying several gifts we found we had spent more on Preston than Paige. Doug wanted to go get another item for Paige to make it even (most of you already know the arguments I have with Doug every year over Christmas spending). So I came up with a great solution. First of all, we took back the bed that came with a bookcase and a box (for $35 extra) and got just the bed and gave it to Preston a couple of weeks before Christmas ... problem solved. And he's happy as a clam. And not to be left out, Paige got a nifty princess blanket ... with feet. I can't imagine how Cinderella's feet fit into delicate glass slippers. Those things are clodhoppers. And so you know, it also wasn't my idea to get the blanket. We have to pick our battles, right?

It's so hard to try to get it all even for your kids. Especially because their needs are all so different! I can only buy so many trinkety one-year-old toys to equal the amount spent on an 8-year-old who wants the latest and greatest! Ugh! I think the equal thing is a bigger deal for the parents than the kids! Oh well, I'm sure they enjoyed all their gifts. That blanket looks really cozy. :)
