My new blog

If you get a moment please check out my new blog. It's something I've felt inspired to do for quite a while. I finally got my scanner working, which made it possible for me to get the blog going. It is dedicated to family history specifically for my dad's side of the family.

The address is www.dickenswilderancestry.blogspot.com.

I have enjoyed working on family history for the past several years on and off. I hope to inspire others to begin working on their own histories. It has been very rewarding to me. I have a testimony of family history and temple work. I know the work we do in the temple is closely matched up to the missionary work our ancestors are doing on the other side. When we give our ancestors the gift of baptism, endowments and sealing families together we give them great opportunities on the other side. I feel their excitement any time I begin working again after a period of inactivity. What we do for them they cannot do for themselves. They help us as we help them and the help isn't just for family history. They help us in our daily lives and watch over us.

I am a mother of two young children. If I can do it anyone can. I haven't had a class or any training. No one can teach you how to find your family. It is different for everyone. I hope my comments inspire you. At the least please visit my site and let me know if I can change or improve anything.

Thank you.

Gummy Bear Fun

Cynthia and Renee' both posted a gummy bear video on their blogs. My kids absolutely loved it. Anytime I turned it on they came running and danced around to the beat. Preston would grab a black and white car we have and bounce it up and down and say the car was dancing. Thank you for posting that, girls. We sure enjoyed it.

Before Snow

I let Paige and Preston go outside to play in early December, knowing snow was coming soon and opportunities for outside play would greatly diminish. As you can see, Paige is overcome with joy. They love riding their bikes outside together.I love the hats they're wearing. They look so cute.We had lots of fun piling up the leaves.

And throwing them. This is my favorite picture of the bunch. We had to take a couple of shots to get one that worked. My kids are such troopers with their camera happy mom.Paige was set on getting a shot with her jumping into the air into the pile of leaves. It's difficult for kids to understand how cameras work. It's not so easy to get an action shot. This is the best one of her jumping episode. She was willing to jump again and again for the perfect shot. It was a fun evening for all of us.

An Apology

I apologize for taking a long time to post. I have been thinking about how best to catch up on the holiday festivities. I don't want them to go into oblivion. After all, this blog is really for me, so I've decided I am going to catch up. I apologize that these events are in the past. Aren't all posts after the fact anyway? It helps me in my journal writing to catch up, so bear with me. I hope you will enjoy sharing in our fun holiday memories.

Miss B. Lina

There has recently been interest in the origins of my blog name. I'm sure any of my family members could tell the story, but it starts off with my mom giving me the nickname 'Bobolina'. She has used this name for me throughout my life since I was young.

Seemingly unrelated is my love for getting mail. I don't like bills, but I do enjoy interesting items from family members and friends, magazines, checks and especially packages. As a pre-teen I found a magazine ad offering a beauty kit for cost of shipping ($2.95). The rule was only one per household. After receiving one of these kits and thoroughly enjoying it, I thought it would be nice to have another one. Since 'Shauna' had already received one I thought perhaps 'Bobolina' would like to have one too. I requested a kit for first name Bobo, last name Lina. When the kit came it was in the name of Miss B. Lina. So that became another of my many nicknames after the family figured out who this package was for (and why).

Well, that and no one on earth knows me by that name except family. Who's going to do a search for Miss B. Lina? And for that matter, who will search for 'shnopa', another one of my many names. I can't have every Tom, Dick and Harry reading my blog and knowing my true identity. Aren't I sneaky?!
